Biarritz also provides a perfect environment for water-sport lovers, its long sandy beaches and incredible waves attract surfers from all over the world ! Biarritz is situated at the foot of the Pyrenees mountains in the heart of the Basque region, which extends into Spain. A region of strong traditions and rich culture that has preserved a certain quality of life in one of the most beautiful regions of France.  Originally a quaint fishing village, until the end of 19th century when Napoleon III and the empress Eugenie fell in love with the regions natural beauty, Biarritz rapidly became a fashionable, refined sea side resort.
This era brought a prestigious clientele to the town and hence considerably developed its architecture, elegant buildings, casinos and palaces that today form the towns reputation.

In 1957, Biarritz welcomed its first surfers from the European continent and today has become a renowned "surfers paradise" thanks to its long sandy beaches and mild climate all year round.

B.L.S. is an International French School with its headquarters  located in Bordeaux.  In a very friendly but highly professional atmosphere, BLS welcomes students from all over the world for intensive full immersion French courses. They offer a wide range of courses to meet most needs, adapted around each student's requirements. The teaching methods are straight forward, but at the same time flexible and interactive. Essentially all the French lessons incorporate various aspects of the French language to ensure a good balance between conversation, grammar, reading, listening and writing.    BLS is registered with the Rectorate of Bordeaux (French Ministry of Education) and is a member of SOUFFLE (the only quality control organization for French language schools and universities in France).  In 2003 they opened a new center in Biarritz, ideally located close to the Biarritz town center (20 minutes by foot, 10 minutes by bike), train station and airport.  In a modern and spacious building dating from the 70's, the French language school offers 15 bright, air conditioned classrooms for groups of 2 to 12 participants. An internet and self study room is also at students' disposal throughout class hours.

Important Notes: all lessons at BLS are now 45 minutes in length. This information supersedes and replaces that contained in our printed brochure. Please note new number of weekly lessons!.  (Minimum Age: 16).  School in Biarritz will be open from 30 March 2009 to 30 October 2009 ONLY!.

Standard French Course - Group 8 --- Beginner to Advanced levels. Maximum of 8 students per class.  20 French Lessons a week (1 lesson =45 minutes)  - 2 wks: USD 855.  Extra wks: USD 306 each.      Long Term: 12 weeks-USD 2,885.

New Course:  Intensive French Course - Group 8 ---Low Intermediate to Advanced levels. Maximum of 8 students per class.  26 French Lessons a week  -  2 wks: USD 911.   Extra wks: USD 382  each.

Super Intensive French Course - Group 8 ---Low Intermediate to Advanced levels. Maximum of 8 students per class.  30 French Lessons a week  -  2 wks: USD 1,105.   Extra wks: USD 459  each.

Starting Dates 2009:

Full Beginners must start on the following dates. All other levels may start any Monday. Long Term courses (all levels) may only start on the following date also. NOTE:  School in Biarritz will be open from 30 March 2009 to 30 October 2009 ONLY!.

Holidays 2009:  13 April, 1 May, 8 May, 21 May, 1 June, 14 July.  The school is closed from 30 October 2008 until  30 March 2009, and from 30 October 2009  until 29 March 2010..
